American pop singer and superstar Katy Perry has made headlines with the gigantic deal, selling the full rights of her entire music catalog spanning from 2008 to 2020 to Litmus Music Group for a huge 225 million USD.

This deal includes her stake in her publishing rights and master recordings for all 5 of her music albums released through Capital Record from One of the Boys to Smile.

It includes many multi-platinum hits like Teenage Dream, I Kissed a Girl, Firework, California Gurls, and Hot ‘n’ Cold.

This is the biggest music deal for a single music artist in 2023. In recent times, Pop Star like Justin Bieber, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen have all sold their songs for a whopping millions-dollar deal.

The canadian pop start Justin Beiber is now in the 2^nd spot who selling his music in such a gigantic amount.  He sold his music catalog to UK-based Hipgnosis in January 2023 for a whopping 200 million USD.

This shocking announcement has sent shockwaves all through the music industry, also highlighting the trend of music artists monetizing their musical legacies.

However, Katy Perry has not released any album since 2020; Perry is currently performing in Las Vegas for her residency called Play, which closes on the 4^th of November. She is also in the procedure of filming the 22^nd season of American Idol where she’ll return as a judge. The biggest competition in America is set to premiere in 2024.

The net worth of Katy Perry is estimated to be around 330 million USD. And she has not yet openly commented about the dear or sales of music albums.

Litmus Music now owns Katy Perry’s stake in the publishing of the music and master recordings which means it’ll collect any future royalties the music earns.

Two of her music tracks, Roar and Dark Horse, have more than 1 billion Streams on Spotify. Roar is also one of the most watched music videos of all on YouTube, with over 3.8 billion hits.

Carlyle Global Credit has spent more than 3 billion USD in and around media, entertainment, and sports space since 2018. While Litmus Group was only founded in 2022 it has earlier owned the music rights of Keith Urban and portfolio songs from the producer and songwriter Benny Blanco, who has worked with Britney Spears, the Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and Rihanna.

Since the birth of her beloved daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, she has not released any album. The singer is occupied with raising a family with Orlando Bloom.
